"There is a great deal of detailed information in the Bible on psychic events that covers a period of about fifteen hundred years. Not only is there nothing in the New Testament against spiritual gifts, but Paul in his first letter to the Corinthians describes the different ways in which they may be manifested in people (see below). Deuteronomy may warn against soothsayers, diviners and necromancers, but to take this as an absolute prohibition is to take it entirely out of context. The Israelites were told to beware of such, but not because the principle was wrong, but because there were false prophets among them (as we will find in every period in history). They were also informed at the same time that God would raise up from among them, a true Prophet to whom they were instructed to listen.

In Corinthians, chapter 12, verses 1 ~ 11, Paul discusses psychic abilities as spiritual gifts: “Now, concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I would not have you ignorant. Ye know that ye are Gentiles, carried away unto these dumb idols, even as ye were led. Wherefore I give you to understand that no man speaking by the Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is the Lord but by the Holy Ghost. Now there are diversities of gifts but the same Spirit. And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the Same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues; But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.”

We have all been given gifts by God so that we may serve others. It is incumbent upon us to develop those gifts, educate ourselves, grow and evolve in any way we can. People have been using their God-given gifts for thousands of years. These “miracles” did not just happen a long ago in another land, irrelevant to today’s world. They happen every day around the world, and are needed now more than ever. Offer whatever spiritual gifts you’ve been given to help make this world a better place!
